Dr. Ashley Hechler, DVM, MS, DACVIM-Neurology

Neurologist & Neurosurgeon

Dr. Hechler knew she wanted to become a veterinarian from a very young age. Her passion stemmed from childhood experiences with her horses and golden retriever.

Dr. Hechler received her DVM at the University of Florida in 2015. When she graduated, she moved to Ohio to complete a rotating internship at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital. In 2019, Dr. Hechler completed a combined residency in neurology and neurosurgery and a Master of Science program at The Ohio State University. She became a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine the same year. Dr. Hechler remained at The Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery. During this time, she completed the Advanced Neurosurgical Certification and is currently working on her certification in canine rehabilitation therapy.

Dr. Hechler enjoys all aspects of neurology, but her passions include Chiari-like malformation and syringomyelia, neurosurgery, the management of neuropathic pain, and the utilization of rehabilitation therapy for common neurological disorders. Outside of work, Dr. Hechler loves to spend time with her husband, Stephen, and their dog, Liam. As a Florida native, she prefers to be outside and particularly enjoys any activity involving the water.
