Dr. Sarah Stewart, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), PGCertVetEd FHEA, MRCVS
Dr. Stewart grew up in British Columbia (Canada) and received her D.V.M. Degree with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008. She completed her internship at NYC Veterinary Specialists, followed by an internal medicine residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City from 2009-2012. She previously worked in the Bay Area from 2013-2016 alongside Dr. Black at AIMSS (Animal Internal Medicine & Specialty Services) before relocating to the United Kingdom to join the faculty at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), the top veterinary school in the world. She spent six years there as a Lecturer in Internal Medicine & Oncology, splitting her time equally between both departments. During her time at the RVC she also served as Co-Chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Group and developed additional expertise in the management of complex multidrug resistant infections.
Since 2023 Dr. Stewart has been working as a locum specialist in internal medicine and oncology, working at specialty private practices and universities in the UK and USA including Texas A&M, Louisiana State and the Animal Medical Center along with regular shifts at Omega Vet Group. She is thrilled to be working alongside Dr. Black again and co-managing internal medicine cases with her.
Dr. Stewart is also the Editor in Chief of the scientific veterinary journal Topics in Companion Animal Medicine, spent 10 years as a Urology & Nephrology Consultant for VIN, and served as the Ombudsperson for the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Small Animal) from 2022-2025. She has a passion for teaching, and lectures regularly on internal medicine and oncology topics in the UK and overseas.
Outside of veterinary medicine she is also a certified sake and wine educator and enjoys teaching classes and professional courses on sake, wine and cheese tasting at West London Wine School and judging sake at the International Wine Challenge competition, as well as spending time with her partner and their cat Arabella at their home in London.
