Dr. Monika Kaelble, DVM, DACVECC

Dr. Monika Kaelble, DVM, DACVECC (pronounced “Cable”) obtained both her BS and veterinary degree at the University of California, Davis.

Following graduation, she completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Purdue University where she developed a love of emergency medicine and caring for patients needing intensive care.

After returning to California and practicing for a few years as an emergency veterinarian Dr. Kaelble pursued a residency in veterinary emergency and critical care becoming board certified in 2000. As Medical Director at the Pet Emergency & Specialty Center in San Diego for 22 years Dr. Kaelble was able to expand her interests in shock, resuscitation, rattlesnake envenomation and sepsis. Teaching and training are a passion and Dr. Kaelble developed and ran a successful emergency/critical care focused internship program graduating 20 classes of veterinarians who went on to careers in emergency medicine, general practice and a wide range of specialties.

As a hospital leader, Dr. Kaelble focuses on both medical excellence and education as well as communication and staff well-being. Dr. Kaelble and her husband have two children in college as well as a “zoo” of pets ranging from dogs and cats to chickens and tortoises.
